She is just as petite and beautiful in real life as on her show. She was at Sur La Table at Kierland Commons signing her new book, Weeknights with Giada. What a fortunate accident to have bumped into her.
Back to brunch, we had truffle fries at Zinc Bistro because they’re my absolute fave. There’s just something magical about a weekend brunch where there’s Prosecco and truffle fries involved. They also have this amazing crab-stuffed truffle omelet that’s oh-so-tasty, it makes me consider actually learning to cook breakfast. Consider=keyword.
Finally, we wrapped up the weekend poolside. Summer is here. Which means it’s time for us to start taking advantage of the fact that we live on a resort. That means pool time for him and umbrella time for me.
The party is one of my favorite events of the year (and of the festival itself) and full of food, fashion and fun. You’ll be treated to eats, treats and sips from more than 20 of the Valley’s best restaurants, live music, entertainment and a spring fashion show featuring jewelry from Issac Jewelers and hair styled by Rolf’s Hair Salon and Spa.
It’s time. Scottsdale Culinary Festivalweek is here! If you haven’t gone to any of the events thus far (shame on you) this weekend promises all the food and fun of year’s past. And I’m excited. Check out the lineup on all of the events, starting tonight, and your what to wear style guide.
If you are in a relationship, tonight may be a battle of where to go. The gents most certainly will want to catch the Burger Battle at Scottsdale Stadium where yes, 15 chefs will battle it out to see who grills the tastiest burger. I have my sights set on the Bubbles & Bliss soiree at The Saguaro, an “effervescent champagne experience” of bubbly-infused food and cocktails.
What to Wear: Why not channel the bubbly vibe with a Champagne-colored cocktail dress? It’s Thursday evening, after all, and a chic soiree such as this demands chic attire.
Friday evening is my favorite event of the Scottsdale Culinary Festival: Eat, Drink & Be Pretty. Why? Because this is not for the fashion faint of heart and there’s plenty of fabulous food and drinks to be had, too. This year, there’s more than 20 Valley restaurants to sample plus a spring fashion show with hair styled by none other than local Valley favorite, Rolf’s Salon. This is one event not to be missed!
What to Wear: A fabulous cocktail dress to go with your fabulous cocktail. Bring it.
What to Wear: Ladies, please pay attention—this is not W Scottsdale on a Saturday night! Think: Picnic Pretty and all that that includes. Cute shorts, skirts and sundresses with pretty sandals or sky-high wedges are fair game. It’s going to be 100 degrees this weekend so show up in jeans at your own risk. The event is outside so please, by all means, leave the stilletos and cocktail dresses at home. If you’re craving style, bring your big shades and a glamorous hat!
How hot is this? No really, let’s take a good look at the Ciaté Caviar Manicure, coming to Sephora soon.
It’s billed as the first 3D at-home manicure of its kind and it’s coming in fun DIY kits to Sephora in white, black and multicolors soon! Check out the video below which shows you how to do it yourself.
What do you think? Will you give this nail trend a try??
There’s a reason why people tell you to try on your shoes at the end of the day-after walking around and sweating, your feet start to swell. So the same shoes you try on in the morning can often feel a little snug by nighttime. This is why Duo Boots are so unique (and why they caught my attention). They offer a range of width fittings in all their shoes! When the weather gets chillier their boots also provide a range of calf fittings so you are sure to find your perfect fit every time!

Warmer days are upon us and with it a brand new fashion season. Fabulous footwear is always on trend and this spring and summer womens shoes are high and heeled. If high heels strike fear into your very core then don’t worry, there are great alternatives out there that add height but don’t have you tottering around like a toddler trying on mom’s shoes.
The classic wedge is one such example. Sturdy enough to walk easily, yet stylish and sophisticated enough to go with even the most formal of outfits. A simple black wedge will easily fit into your work, rest and play wardrobe. Teamed with a classic pencil skirt and white shirt for the office, and with a mere switch to a sheer blouse this look will take you from the office to the bar in no time.
If a mid-range heel is more your idea of style and comfort then this season, try a lighter shade. Nude pink fits perfectly into the pastel trend that’s hot this spring and summer. It will look great with mint green tea dresses, lemon skinny jeans and the heel height is still office-appropriate.
The chunky heel is a new trend that has only just started filtering in; the style is just as comfortable as a wedge but has an added stylish edge. To complement the chunky heel, choose a look with chunky straps to match. Bright blues shades are perfect for adding a pop of color to an outfit and will look great with this season’s “It” color, orange.
Finally, a classic peep toe couldn’t be more elegant and these peppy sandals in fun summer colors are right on trend this season.
The weather is so dry, my skin just can’t take it anymore. And with summer just around the corner, that means it’s time to break out the beauty products to slather some much-needed moisture onto my skin. Here are my three favorite moisturizing beauty products.
2. Vaseline is one product you really can’t go wrong with having in your beauty stash and a it’s great budget buy too. No need for fancy foot creams; slather some Vaseline on your tootsies, add some socks and leave on overnight or through the day for amazingly soft feet. Trust.
3. Lather Honey Moisture Maskdoes exactly what it sounds like: infuses your skin with some much-needed moisture–and quick. It’s a fabulous product to have on hand when you’re getting ready to go somewhere and just realized moisturizer just won’t do it and you need to call in some emergency help.
What are some of your favorite moisturizing products?
I loved Father of the Bride. I mean really, who doesn’t? It’s a classic early 90s movie filled with heartfelt moments and goofy humor. I caught it on local cable the other day and got sucked into it for the millionth time and this time, really paid attention to the numbers. Maybe it’s because I’m a bride planning my own wedding and it hadn’t even phased me before, but these people spent BIG bucks! Especially for the 90s.
Let’s remember, a house wedding, does NOT mean cheaper. Especially if your house looks like this:
Between the renovations, flowers, catering and outfitting the house, having a wedding at home isn’t necessarily cheap. Mr. Banks was quoted $250 a head with a 500-person guest list–that’s $125K! Needless to say, their guest list was trimmed…
Glamour, however, was not. There was the gorgeous tent. The several thousand dollar wedding cake and, of course, let’s not forget the swans!
Let’s do the math:
150 guests at $250/head=$37,500
Which means today, it would be a $62,682.54 backyard wedding!
I know, I don’t usually post home decor, but I was so enamored by these photos from The Social Home that I found on I Heart Organizingthat I couldn’t help but share.
While to be perfectly honest, I’m not quite sure my pantry could ever look this good, these pictures certainly inspire me to try! I had a bit of a rough weekend and for whatever reason, home organization when I’m stressed out seems to somehow soothe the soul.
Don’t worry about breaking your bank to achieve this look, by the way, Jen bought all of the containers at her local dollar store! Talk about a banging budget find.
