Finding that perfect pair of bootcut jeans is easier said than done. With so many different styles and cuts available to women, it can be quite the chore, figuring out not only which ones you like, but which ones suit you. Shopping for jeans can go from the excitement of retail therapy to depression and frustration in a matter of minutes. Don’t give up too soon though – make it easier and head to George at ASDA online or in store to get more of an idea about the types of bootcut jeans to suit your figure type.
Bootcut Jeans
Loved by many, bootcut jeans have been a staple of many a wardrobe for decades and will always remain in the world of fashion for years to come. Indigo wash bootcut jeans are a timeless classic that can be dressed up or down. Team with some pumps for a casual look or with some heels for a dressier occasion. Bootcuts suit most figures, including the hourglass figure which can be enhanced with bootcuts to show off your curves. Make the bootcut jeans your wardrobe staple.
Straight Leg
Perfect to make your legs look longer and for those who lack curves. They go with most things and can be a great alternative to bootcuts and skinnies. They slim thighs and calves and the low-rise version looks great. Opt for a longer length if you plan to wear with heels. Straight-legged jeans are ideal for pear shapes, as they brush past the curves and balance the figure.
Skinnies
Super fashionable at the moment, skinny jeans are a hit with most people – especially those who have the pins to carry them off. Sexy and smart, skinnies are versatile must-haves for a capsule wardrobe and look fab with heels and boots. Ideal if you have an androgynous figure, skinny jeans will hug what curves you have – super slim would look amazing. Add edge by choosing colored skinnies.
Flares
They don’t just belong in the 70s, you know. Flared jeans are a perfect addition to any spring/summer wardrobe, and are incredibly flattering to most figure types. Bring back the flower power with a Bohemian chiffon blouse and straw heeled wedges, or simply combine with a plain black tee for a timeless, classic look. If you have a petite stature, try and avoid flared and wide-legged jeans as they tend to swamp the figure. Hourglass and boyish figures would look great in these hippy favorites.
Boyfriend
If you like your jeans baggy, boyfriend jeans are the ones for you. Put down your boyfriend’s Levis and invest in a pair that fits the female figure while providing the essence of a guy’s jeans. Opt for low rise jeans that hug the hips for a super-sexy look or add a wide belt if you’re worried they’ll fall down completely! Invest in a few pairs of jeans that suit your figure and style and you’ll have a foolproof outfit, no matter what the occasion. Dress them up or keep them casual – it’s completely your choice.
Feeling overloaded yet with all of these Great Gatsby fashion posts going around? Me neither. This is one period of time and glamour that I can absolutely overdose on. If you’re going to a Great Gatsby-themed party in celebration of the movies, try some of these looks.
As much as I love a new fashion trend sometimes, they’re just downright silly. And this spring’s fashion trends include more than a few that you should just say “no” to. Unflattering, hard to pull off and just plain ugly are a few of the reasons these three spring fashion trends made my list.
Midriffs
I can’t help thinking of The Fresh Prince of Bell Air and the Saved by the Bell gals running around their high schools in middriff tops. They were cute then. Sort of. But, here’s the thing: it’s a trend most of us can’t pull off and I’m being nice when I say “most.” If you’re 18-25 and under 110 lbs, give it a shot. Otherwise, the rest of us really should just pass…
Overalls
I cannot believe how much fashion websites are pushing overalls this season! From Fashionista to Refinery 29 I keep seeing posts on “how to wear overalls” how to style them and how they are the new cute thing. They are not. Overalls must be one of the singular most unflattering pieces of clothing ever made. They do nothing for your butt, your waist, your, well, anything! Except to make you look boxy, dumpy and like your butt is sagging. Did you know, overalls were actually invented as work clothing for miners in the late 1800s? Let’s keep that garment of clothing in the past. Really guys, please, please pass.
Lucite Heels
This is just a personal pet peeve: every so often, lucite heels come back into fashion. Clear heels, friends. Ya know, like the ones strippers exotic dancers wear? Yeah, exactly. Let’s leave these for the bedroom, Halloween and pole dancing affairs.
What do you think? Do you love or hate these trends? What spring fashion trend are you currently hating?
The catwalk season was highly eventful this year, with New York, London, Milan, and Paris all showcasing some truly eye-catching pieces from top designers, as well as some offerings from emerging labels.
Vera Wang’s show was packed full of sculptural silhouettes and fabrics that gave a nod towards the 80s. Tailoring is set to remain big news in the Autumn/Winter 2013-14 season and there was plenty of choice when it came to sharply tailored and ‘ankle-anchored’ trousers.
The floral trend that has been a firm favourite on the catwalks for the past few seasons was back again, but this time in block neon colours such as orange and purple. Wang’s tailored pieces can easily be recreated with an oversized blazer and then dressed down with a pair of skinny jeans to create a look that’s casual and yet still on-trend.
Marissa Webb is a new name in terms of designers, but she’s no stranger to the fashion world. She’s held several positions at J Crew and last season saw the debut of her own collection. This season there was a big emphasis on black and white and, although she also paid attention to the tailored trend, she dedicated a large chunk of her show to leather, which is sticking around for the time being. To wear Webb’s looks for less, opt for shorts, low heels and a leather jacket – all in black – and then contrast with a white blouse with lace detail.
Oscar De La Renta’s show was one that everyone was anticipating with excitement and he didn’t disappoint. With a strong focus on the cinched waist and cape trends, it seemed like every outfit was a showstopper. Like Webb, De La Renta placed a strong emphasis on leather pieces and included a bright colour in many of his outfits. To create a De La Renta outfit for a fraction of the price, pair a black leather skirt with a bright top and pull in the waist with a thin belt.
With such a diverse range of colours and styles, the Autumn/Winter 2013-14 catwalks had something for everyone – so it’ll be interesting to see how these trends are interpreted by the high street later this year. Watch this space!

Stilletos, art and an auction to benefit Artlink Phoenix. There is nothing to not love about the Inspired Soles Art Show and Auction taking place this Friday, April 5 at the 6th Avenue Gallery. The First Friday event includes a live and silent auction on gorgeous high heel stilletos that have been transformed and re-imagined by local artists, celebrities and designers. Live music, refreshments and a meet and greet with the artists behind the stylish soles are also on the agenda for the evening.
A portion of proceeds from the event benefits Artlink Phoenix, a nonprofit organization dedicated to linking artists, business and the public to better understand, appreciate and promote a thriving arts community in central Phoenix. And in case you aren’t able to make it to Friday’s exciting auction, the stilletos will be on display throughout the month of April. Here is a sneak peek at what some of the artists have come up with!
{Jessenia Lopez: La Sirena}
{Stormy Olsen:Foot Candy}
{Vice Mayor Bill Gates & Family: The Sole of Phoenix}
{Casey D. Smith: With a Cherry on Top}
These works of art don’t come in pairs but if you’re really jonesing to wear one of these original works out, a special request can be made.

Wondering what to wear to that Spring Training game?
{Please, leave the Manolos at home}
I confess, going to a baseball game to me is about as exciting as watching paint dry. But it’s America’s Favorite Pastime and quite a big deal here this time of year. Yes, Spring Training is in full swing and with all of our gorgeous weather, too many loads of tourists and long sunny days, it’s the perfect setting for day drinking taking in a good game.
Seriously though, all jokes aside, this spectator sport is not like The Phoenix Open ladies; drop those stilettos and slip into something cute and casual.
As much as I love catching up on the latest runway trends, when it comes to real-life wear, some are just not happening. No matter how stylish it may be, this Arizona girl is not wearing spring leather when it’s a million degrees out in this desert. So what spring fashion trends are actually wearable? Here are five of this spring’s most wearable fashion trends.
Black and White
If you’re shopping for spring fashion trends on a budget, black and white is one of the easiest to style. You can shop this season’s black- and white-print skirts, dresses, tops and accessories or, sift through your closet and pair the two hues together. It’s one of this spring’s hottest trends you can embrace without spending a dime.
Stripes
Who doesn’t love stripes? Horizontal stipes are great for creating curves and vertical stripes can make you appear taller. There’s something inherently casual about striped patterns, and designers were all about them on the spring runways.
Florals
I haven’t always been a fan of the floral-print trend, and it isn’t the easiest look to pull off. But this season’s floral picks are feminine and pretty, without looking dowdy.
Fancy Flats
Sky-high stilletos are still fashionable but this spring, it’s all about the fancy flat. Pretty patent leathers, embellished prints and funky prints are just some of the fancier flats you’ll see. Looking for something on a budget? Shop some of these 15 fancy flats under $50.
Cutouts
When it comes to cutouts there’s a major misconception; it’s impossible to wear undergarments. Well, spring’s new cutouts are strategically placed in all sorts of areas, so you can pick and choose what works from you. From middriff cutouts to cutout shoulders and backs, these sexy slits are on spring trend that’s easy to get on board with.
Spring may be here, but it’s still a bit brisk in the mornings for me to be stepping out in sandals with toes hanging free. And since boots aren’t quite right, it’s the perfect time to embrace one of this spring’s hottest trends, the fancy flat.
I’d like to stock up on a few pairs since they’re so easy to wear from work to shopping to happy hour and beyond. And this season just about anything goes; from sparkly metallics to funky prints and embellished flats, there’s a style that will suit just about any taste. No need to bust the budget either, here’s 15 fancy flats all under $5o.
