Stilletos, art and an auction to benefit Artlink Phoenix. There is nothing to not love about the Inspired Soles Art Show and Auction taking place this Friday, April 5 at the 6th Avenue Gallery. The First Friday event includes a live and silent auction on gorgeous high heel stilletos that have been transformed and re-imagined by local artists, celebrities and designers. Live music, refreshments and a meet and greet with the artists behind the stylish soles are also on the agenda for the evening.
A portion of proceeds from the event benefits Artlink Phoenix, a nonprofit organization dedicated to linking artists, business and the public to better understand, appreciate and promote a thriving arts community in central Phoenix. And in case you aren’t able to make it to Friday’s exciting auction, the stilletos will be on display throughout the month of April. Here is a sneak peek at what some of the artists have come up with!

{Jessenia Lopez: La Sirena}
{Stormy Olsen:Foot Candy}
{Vice Mayor Bill Gates & Family: The Sole of Phoenix}

{Casey D. Smith: With a Cherry on Top}
These works of art don’t come in pairs but if you’re really jonesing to wear one of these original works out, a special request can be made.

A few months ago, I wrote about this awesome exhibit at Phoenix Art Museum, Fashion Independent:The Original Style of Ann Bonfoey Taylor. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s your last weekend to do so! And trust, this is one you won’t want to have missed out on. It’s truly quite lovely.

Ann Bonfoey Taylor
From Hermes, Givenchy and Madam Gres, to Mariano Fortuny and Charles James, you’ll peruse more than 60 ensembles from Taylor’s enviable wardrobe.
But, this woman was much more than a socialite with a designer’s dream closet; she was a licensed pilot, Olympic skier, championship tennis player, wife, mother and skiwear designer. Her clothing and her story are extraordinary.
The exhibit makes up one of the largest fashion exhibits Phoenix Art Museum has had to date and is on display now through May 22 so be sure to stop in! In fact, it’s so large it’s housed in the museum’s lower galleries instead of the usual fashion gallery upstairs. The clothes are positively lust-worthy.

If you haven’t been to Devoured, it’s quite the treat. It’s been voted Arizona’s best culinary festival and features the best local restaurants, chefs and wineries.
While I only sometimes blog about Phoenix events, you know if it’s listed it has to be good.
Devoured kicks off Friday night, with a full day of food and drink on both Saturday and Sunday. (Really, what better way is there to spend a weekend afternoon than drinking and eating with friends?)

Trust, you’ll love the list as it won’t dissapoint. Think Valley favorites like Talavera, J&G Steakhouse, Postino’s, Prado and more.
